Debbie's art is rooted in a lifelong love of nature, shaped by her upbringing in the hills of Southern California. After years spent painting murals and exploring portrait photography, she found her way back to painting when she moved to Quincy in Northern Sierra Nevada. Surrounded by open skies, forests, and wildlife, Debbie's passion for animals and expressive painting came fully alive.
Working primarily in oils, her focus is on movement, emotion, and bold contrasts of color. Using both brushes and palette knives, Debbie allows the paint to remain expressive and instinctive, allowing texture and energy to build organically on the canvas. Above all, it is the eyes that guide her work. Through the eyes, the soul and story of the animal reveal themselves.
